Three Steps To Dressing For Work After Surgery

After you get surgery, it is important to spend the appropriate time healing. After surgery, you are at risk of developing other issues, such as blood clots, getting infections due to a weaker immune system, and the possibility of setting back your healing schedule. If you are healing well and you intend on going to work soon, you should still take it easy. If you are going back for a day at work after you have healed from surgery, you will still need to take it easy. Here are three changes that you should make to your work attire if you are just getting back to work after a procedure.

Looser fitting trousers

If you are going back to work after a surgical procedure, it is common to feel a little bit sore if you are still healing. For this reason, you will want to have a good range of motion and remain comfortable throughout the day. Purchase a pair of pants that are a little bit looser than the pants that you may wear on a regular basis. This will also allow you to stretch, bend, and reach the interior of your pants without any issues.

Get compression dress stockings

Compression stockings are a staple after surgery. Post surgery is the time where many are at risk of developing blood clots, which can be a serious issue. If you want to make sure that you do everything possible to decrease the risk of blood clots, you should wear compression stockings. A pair of dress compression socks is one of the best after surgery purchases that you can make. Not only will this will allow you to wear appropriate footwear to work, but it will give the appropriate compression to keep your ankles, feet, and legs healthy. If you have a job where you sit most of the day, select a higher compression level to make sure that you are not at risk of deep vein thrombosis.

No lace shoes

After surgery is not the time where you want to participate in strenuous activities. If you are having a surgery that can restrict your mobility for the current time, you will need to have footwear that is easy to slip on. Get a pair of easy slide on shoes that have no laces. These can be boots or they can be one piece loafers. Make sure that the interior of the shoe is soft so that you can walk gingerly, rather than dealing with rough or hard foot placement.
